, : The effects of girdling and ethephon treatments on ripening and yield quality and fruit characteristics of buhurzy grape cultivar (Vitis vinifera L.). Annals of Agricultural Science Cairo 34(1): 675-687

In 1987 and 1988, either spraying with 1000 p.p.m. ethephon or a combination of girdling + 100 p.p.m. ethephon effectively advanced the date of fruit ripening by 7-8 days compared with untreated controls. These treatments also resulted in a significantly higher total yield/vine, cluster weight and 100-berry weight. The TSS content was increased and acidity reduced in both seasons by ethephon spraying.
