The effects of light, sucrose and growth regulators on the colouration of cut snapdragon flowers. I. Effects of light intensity and sucrose

Cut flowers of Antirrhinum majus cultivars Do Bong and Chun Bong were treated with 0, 2, 4, 10 or 20% sucrose and kept in darkness, low light (500-1000 lx) or high light (5000-10 000 lx). Anthocyanin content increased with increasing light intensity. In darkness, anthocyanin content was highest with 20% sucrose for Do Bong and 10% sucrose for Chun Bong. In low light, it was highest with 4% (both cultivars) and in high light with 2 and 4%, respectively.
