The effects of mixing ethephon with ethychlozate on fruit thinning and defoliation in satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marcovitch)

The effects of mixing ethephon with ethychlozate on fruit thinning and defoliation in satsuma mandarin (Citrus unshiu Marcovitch)
In trials with satsumas, various combinations of 50 or 100 p.p.m. ethychlozate and 0-50 p.p.m. ethephon were applied at 30 days after full flowering. Addition of 25-50 p.p.m. ethephon to 100 p.p.m. ethychlozate gave effective fruit thinning without increasing defoliation. In a further experiment, 100 p.p.m. ethychlozate in combination with 5-10 p.p.m. ethephon gave very effective fruit thinning.
