The effects of modified diets on urinary risk factors for kidney stone disease

It has been suggested that diet can affect the following urinary risk factors in calcium oxalate renal calculi disease: low volume, hypercalciuria, hyperoxaluria and hyperuricosuria. A 2-part study was made, involving 21 patients with calcium oxalate renal calculi. The effect of a diet modified in fluid, calcium, oxalate and animal protein on urinary risk factors was investigated during part 1 and the additional effect of high-fibre biscuits was determined in part 2.
