Paclobutrazol at 500 mg/litre was sprayed on 12-week-old seedlings. Vegetative growth was reduced and root:shoot DW ratios were increased, but root DW, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate and leaf area ratio were unaffected. Leaves from the top, middle and lower parts of the seedling shoots were exposed to 14CO2 and the movement of 14C-labelled assimilates was studied.
