The effects of possible restrictions on the exportation of logs

, : The effects of possible restrictions on the exportation of logs. Ciencia e Investigacion Forestal ( 3): 135-141

A proposed ban on log exports from Chile is discussed. The aim would be to increase exports of higher value wood products produced within the country. Although the internal price of logs may decrease, this may not necessarily reduce the cost of production of high value products. It is expected that only large companies will be able to expand production of high value products, which may lead to a reduction in the number of small firms managing forests.
