The effects of recombinant methionyl bovine somatotropin administration (rBST) on luteinizing hormone (LH) in dairy cattle

, : The effects of recombinant methionyl bovine somatotropin administration (rBST) on luteinizing hormone (LH) in dairy cattle. Journal of Dairy Science 74(Supplement 1): 226

16 lactating cycling Holstein cows were used to determine the effects of recombinant somatotropin (GH) administration on basal and acute LH concn. Cows received a 3-injection scheme of PGF2 alpha for oestrus synchronization beginning on day 40-50 post partum (pp). Control cows received a placebo while treated cows received 25 mg GH (Monsanto Agricultural Co.) daily, beginning with the second PGF2 alpha injection 54-59 days pp. Treatment duration was 24 days.
