The effects of rooting on the structure of compacted soil zones after slit ploughing

, : The effects of rooting on the structure of compacted soil zones after slit ploughing. Scientia Agriculturae Bohemoslovaca 22(2): 85-91

Compacted soil zones were loosened by slit ploughing. Loosening slits, 10 cm wide and 20 cm deep, are generated 35 cm apart. The loosened zones operated like guide-lines for roots which extended well below the compacted zone, demonstrating the bridging function of slits between topsoil and compacted subsoil.
