The effects of spraying frequency on insecticide residues and insect control in mung beans

Mung beans grown in the Belawa/Wajo region of Indonesia were unsprayed or sprayed 3-10 times with 0.2 kg chlorpyrifos and/or 0.075-0.15 kg monocrotophos/ha. There were no differences in percentage defoliation, pod borer damage or yield between 10 sprays (farmer's method) or 4 sprays based on crop observation. Yield was lowest, and crop damage greatest, in unsprayed crops.
