The effects of the quantity guarantee regulations for milk on the market for beef

, : The effects of the quantity guarantee regulations for milk on the market for beef. Schriftenreihe des Bundesministers fur Ernahrung, Landwirtschaft und Forsten Reihe A, Angewandte Wissenschaft ( 401): 227pp.

The study first analyses the probable development of demand for milk and milk products in Germany and the EC up to the year 2000 so as to estimate the likely size of quotas. It then estimates the size of the dairy herd, taking account of rising yields and, from this, the likely future number of calves. The various ways in which these calves may be used (veal production, bull, bullock or heifer fattening) are then considered and their slaughter weight estimated.
