The efficacy of neem oil and neem-extracted substances on the rice leafhopper Nephotettix virescens (Distant)

, : The efficacy of neem oil and neem-extracted substances on the rice leafhopper Nephotettix virescens (Distant). Journal of the National Research Council of Thailand 21(2): 37-58

Neem oil was extracted from neem seeds, and further extraction was performed by water and other solvents. The repellent action of neem oil at 10% and upwards to the rice pest Nephotettix virescens was found to increase with increasing oil concn. Neem extracted by distillation was more effective than neem oil against female cicadellids. Of 3 extracts obtained by distillation (N1, N1M and N2), N1 was the best, followed by N2 and pure water, resp.

The modified thiol cotton fiber (TCF) can quantitatively adsorb, at least the ions of 11 trace heavy metals in solution with adsorption order: Bi(III) apprxeq Sn(II) > Ag(I) > Cu(II) > In(III) > Pb(II) > Cd(II) > Zn(II) > Co(I...

A 300-km (186-mi) transect was reconstructed across the 500-m (1640-ft)-thick, 3-m.y. duration Iles clastic wedge in southern Wyoming and northern Colorado using well logs and stratigraphic columns. This wedge developed into the middle-late Campan...

The reaction of western Canadian spring wheat and triticale to a composite of races of common bunt (Tilletia caries and T. foetida) was assessed in field studies conducted over 2 yr at three locations. Triticale and durum wheat were designated imm...

Vitaterna, Martha Hotz; Selby, Christopher P.; Todo, Takeshi, 1999: Differential regulation of mammalian period genes and circadian rhythmicity by cryptochromes 1 and 2. The involvement of cryptochromes in the circadian system was investigated. Cryptochromes control the circadian clock in animals and plants, and humans and mice possess 2 cryptochrome genes, Cry1 and Cry2. The circadian clocks of Cry1-/- and Cry1...

Anonymous, 2011: Inhibition of glycogen synthase kinase 3beta induces dermal fibrosis by activation of the canonical Wnt pathway. Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK-3) regulates the phosphorylation and subsequent degradation of β-catenin, thereby preventing aberrant activation of the canonical Wnt pathway. A study was undertaken to define the role of GSK-3 in...

Incubation of hepatocytes with 40 mM glucose fo...
