The energy flow through rice/brown planthopper/Theridion octomaculatum ecosystem

The energy budgets for all development stages of the delphacid Nilaparvata lugens and the spider Theridion octomaculatum (Coleosoma octomaculatum) were estimated at 30 degrees C. Their growth, egg production, respiration and the energy content of exuvia and webbing were determined. Based on a systematic survey of populations of N. lugens and T. octomaculatum and values of rice biomass and energy, the energy flow for the system was determined.
