Analyses of energy consumption are presented for: fruit vegetables (tomatoes, capsicums, aubergines, cucumbers, melons, strawberries and zucchini); leafy vegetables (lettuces, chicory, endive, spinach, celery and fennel); inflorescence-type vegetables (cauliflowers and globe artichokes); seed-type vegetables (beans and peas); root, bulb and stem vegetables (carrots, onions and asparagus); seed production (beetroot, cabbage, onion, carrot, chicory, radish and lettuce); and seedling production (tomato, capsicum, melon and cauliflower). Energy saving is discussed with reference to machinery, fertilizers, irrigation and greenhouses.
