The incidence of helminth infections in sows and piglets in southern Germany

Faecal samples from 61 sows from 7 breeding farms were examined at weekly intervals during lactation and monthly at other times over a period of one year. Faecal samples from 413 piglets of these sows were also examined at weekly intervals until 9 weeks of age. The number of helminth species found varied from 1 to 3, but no helminths were detected in sows from 2 farms.
