Data were analysed on 2518 sows at 12 farms in 1987-1989. In summer, the percentage of sows exhibiting oestrus <=3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and >10 days after weaning was 2.6, 17.2, 31.8, 16.4, 8.6, 3.3, 2.3, 1.9 and 15.9% resp. vs. 2.4, 20.4, 35.2, 16.3, 7.1, 2.6, 1.7, 1.5 and 12.9 for the rest of the year.
