A model study has been carried out using precipitation and runoff data from the Mahalapswe catchment in Botswana to study the effect of meteorological and hydrological variables on calculations of runoff. Several conceptual water balance models were investigated. The models had different degrees of complexity in their structure. Precipitation data were spatially averaged.
