Topical (1%) solution of griseofulvin in the treatment of tinea corporis

British Journal of Dermatology 124(1): 110-111

The efficacy of a new formulation of griseofulvin as a topical solution was evaluated in the treatment of tinea corporis in a double-blind randomized placebo-controlled clinical study. A total of 53 patients with culture proven tinea corporis due to Trichophyton rubrum (68%), T. mentagrophytes (28%) and Microsporum gypseum (4%) were included, of whom 27 received placebo solution prepared from the excipients of the active preparation and the remainder received griseofulvin (1%).
