The effects of tractor ballasting on wheel slip and fuel consumption at various forward speeds and two different tyre pressures were investigated. Wheel slip reduction and fuel savings of up to 33% and 26% respectively were observed in some cases. Slippage and fuel consumption were lower at lower tyre pressures.
