Ballasting studies were conducted to demonstrate the time and energy savings possible with proper ballasting and to design a system that will maintain optimum tractive wheel slippage during soil cultivation. Water ballasting was used, with a 200 gallon water tank mounted on both the front and rear of the tractor, and a centrifugal 75 gallon/min water pump to transfer water from the rear to the front tank.
