Wind tunnel tests to optimize barrier spacing and porosity to reduce wind damage in horticultural shelter systems

Recent measurements in a boundary-layer wind tunnel of wind changes over a series of up to 20 model barriers at different spacings and porosities suggest ways to reduce wind damage to the sheltered plants. Data from a single hot-wire probe are presented as contour plots of isotachs, isoturbs, and turbulence intensity for 20 different barrier space/height (S/H) ratios and geometrical porosities.
