A project for the promotion of the national heritage: the museums of the Earth

Given the increase in rural tourism in recent years, and its cultural and economic importance, a need exists to promote activities that will offer a complementary attraction to tourists while adding value to the region concerned. A proposal for one such activity is the development of a network of museums of the Earth. The article describes the setting up of a network programme centred on the town of Medina del Campo in Spain.
