A quantitative HPIEC-Zeeman hybrid method for studying the protein binding and speciation of aluminium (Al) and iron (Fe)

To identify aluminium-binding proteins and to study the possible metabolic competition between Al and iron for binding sites on transferrin, a quantitative method for the speciation of Al and Fe was developed using high-performance liquid chromatography in combination with Zeeman atomic absorption spectrometry.
