A rapid acid-oxalate extraction procedure for the determination of active Fe-oxide forms in calcareous soils

Zeitschrift fur Pflanzenernahrung und Bodenkunde 155(5-6): 437-440

A rapid acid-oxalate extraction procedure for the determination of active Fe-oxide forms in calcareous soils

In calcareous soils, extraction with acid NH4-oxalate presents some problems (pH change, production of CO2), which have been circumvented by decalcifying the soil before extraction. However, this procedure is not suited to routine analysis. A rapid procedure is presented in which the soil is treated with oxalic acid before oxalate extraction to neutralize the active calcium carbonate equivalent.
