A study of log grading rules applied in Papua New Guinea

A study of log grading rules applied in Papua New Guinea

Klinkii 4(2): 34-47

An examination and comparison of the results of log grading within and between logging operations at Wawoi Guavi and Vanimo in 1987, using the SEALPA (South East Asian Lumber Producers Association) log grading rules effected in 1975, and formally accepted by SEALPA in 1981. These rules have been accepted by the major log exporting countries and by Japan, a major buyer, but they still have certain weaknesses and require some refinements for wide acceptance and use.
