A study of the etiology and control of infectious diarrhea among foals in central Kentucky

A study of the etiology and control of infectious diarrhea among foals in central Kentucky

Proceedings of the Annual Convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners ( 36): 337-355

The aetiology of infectious foal diarrhoea was studied in 493 sick and healthy foals on 19 farms over a 3-year period. Group A rotavirus was the most common cause of outbreaks of infectious diarrhoea; endoparasites and bacteria including Salmonella, Escherichia coli, and Campylobacter were rarely implicated.
