A study on Arge nipponensis Rohwer

A study on Arge nipponensis Rohwer

Insect Knowledge 26(2): 85-88

The argid Arge nipponensis, a pest of Chinese rose (Rosa chinensis), was studied in 1984-86 in Lu'an, Anhui, China. A. nipponensis produced 5-6 generations annually with the prepupae overwintering in soils. Adults could copulate on the same day of emergence and oviposit the following day on branches of host plants, 5-10 cm from the top, laying 20-24 eggs each time and each female laying 40-50 eggs during its life time.
