Adult plant resistance to stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis) in some New Zealand wheat cultivars

The resistance to stripe rust on each mainstem leaf of 7 New Zealand wheat cultivars was assessed in 3 autumn-sown field trials which were exposed to natural inoculum in 1987, 1988 and 1989. Stripe rust was assessed weekly and disease progress curves, max. severities and areas under disease progress curves each showed that all cultivars lacked seedling resistance, but 4 possessed adult plant resistance.
