Analysis of the variability of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) growth during the early stages. I. Influence of various conditions on crop establishment

Analysis of the variability of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) growth during the early stages. I. Influence of various conditions on crop establishment

Agronomie 12(7): 515-525

In field trials at 4 sites NE of Paris, France, in 1987, early growth of sugarbeet Bingo was analysed for different conditions and the results were fitted to exponential growth models. Growth was also analysed for 4 different cultivars at 1 site in 1988. Early growth between the 4- and 10-leaf stage was adequately described by a simple exponential model. The slope of this growth model was not affected by cultivars.
