Variation in PAGE banding patterns of peroxidase and esterase isoenzymes in 10 M. sativa genotypes grown under different environmental conditions allowed their clustering into 3 groups: (1) var. Zhaodong and Aoha; (2) Jungar, Rangeland 2, Gongnong 1, Humeng, Qingshuihe and Fugu; and (3) Shawan and Soviet Union 36.
