Analysis of water movement in volcanic ash plateau soil using the tank model method

Analysis of water movement in volcanic ash plateau soil using the tank model method

Agriculture and Horticulture 67(8): 878-882

Using a field on volcanic ash soil in Kagoshima Prefecture on which various crops including pumpkin, maize, sweet potato and Italian ryegrass were grown, measurements of water content, rainfall, surface runoff, groundwater depth, water evaporation and electrical conductivities at various depth were made. The data were used to produce a tank model of water movement in the soil including percolation, upward movements and uptake by plants.
