Analysis on the genetic variation of economic characters for apple hybrids

Journal of Fruit Science 11(2): 71-75

Percentage early flowering (PEF), number of flower buds and fruit colour, flavour, shape and quality were studied in 482 seedlings from 8 artificial crosses and 3 open pollinated crosses. PEF and number of flower buds depended on the parents used in the cross. PEF was significantly higher in hybrids from open pollination than in those from controlled crosses.
