Analytical method of determining the volume of the tree crown

Analytical method of determining the volume of the tree crown

Annals of Warsaw Agricultural University SGGW, Forestry and Wood Technology ( 42): 25-32

A method is described in which distances and vertical and horizontal angles to various parts of the crown are measured from points around the tree using a BRT 006 tacheometer. Data are processed by computer. Comparisons with values obtained by approximating crown volume to a series of tetrahedrons using data from a large beech (Fagus sylvatica) tree with a spreading crown showed an error of 11.78% for the new method.
