Analytical process for microprobing the crystals in a thin section; Focused on Raman and infrared absorption spectroscopies

Four microspectroscopy techniques for identification of crystalline and mineral species in thin sections were compared: Election Probe Microanalyser (EPMA); Laser Micro-Raman spectroscope (LMR); Fourier Transform Micro-Infrared Absorption Spectroscope (FTMIR); X-ray Micro-Diffractometer (XMD). Ease of sample preparation was in the above order.
