Analyzing plant images in the HLS color space



Paper American Society of Agricultural Engineers ( 93-3593): 12 pp.



Plant reflectance data are typically presented using either Red-Green-Blue (RGB) graphs or intensity versus frequency plots. Data presentation in the Hue-Lightness-Saturation (HLS) colour space provides an alternative to these 2 methods. The conversion from RGB to HLS space is briefly described. Benefits and problems of using video image data converted to HLS space are discussed.
