Anaphase chromosome separation in dividing cells of Tradescantia. Changes in microtubule organization and kinetochore distribution visualized by antitubulin and CREST immunocytochemistry

Anaphase chromosome separation in dividing cells of Tradescantia. Changes in microtubule organization and kinetochore distribution visualized by antitubulin and CREST immunocytochemistry

Protoplasma 166(3-4): 122-133

In dividing generative cells of T. virginiana, kinetochore pairs did not line up on a typical metaphase plate, but instead were distributed along the length and depth of the cell prior to anaphase onset. Kinetochore (K) fibres were linked to each other and to a system of axial microtubule (Mt) bundles in an arrangement that made discrete half spindles, if present, not immediately obvious.
