Anatomical structure of the leaves in recommended and promising varieties of apple in the Chu valley

Data are presented from a study of the morphological and anatomical characters of the leaves in 19 varieties in this area of Kyrgyzstan. Increased thickness of the leaf blade was associated with an increased amount of the mesophyll tissue, which was related to photosynthetic activity of the leaves and photosynthetic production (g dry matter/msuperscript 2 leaf area in 24 h).
