Androgen binding protein inhibition of androgen-dependent transcription explains the high minimal testosterone concentration required to maintain spermatogenesis in the rat

The min. testicular testosterone concentration required to maintain advanced spermatid production in the rat has previously been shown to be 50 nM. At 30 nM testosterone in the seminiferous tubule fluid, a concentration >3 times the testosterone concentration in serum, advanced spermatid production function fails.
