Animal productivity on continuous grazing of Brachiaria decumbens under three stocking rates in the Amazon foothills

Steers with an average weight of 280 kg kept on continuous grazing of Brachiaria decumbens pasture were randomly allocated to stocking rates of 1.5, 2.0 or 2.5 steers/ha over a 3-year period. Average liveweight gain per annum was 197+or-9.2, 189+or-9.1 and 204+or-44 kg/animal, respectively. Dry season average daily gain in highest stocking rate (646 g) was higher (P<0.05) than in medium and low stocking rates (493 and 531 g/day, respectively).
