Anisotropy of soils and its modelling

Anisotropy of soils and its modelling

Proceedings Thirteenth International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, New Delhi, India, 5-10 January, 1994 Volume 1: 47-50

Results are presented which show that the anisotropy of clay and one-dimensionally consolidated clay affects deformation and maximum shear stress but not the internal friction angle. This anisotropy can be analysed using an elastoplastic model for clay in which stress-induced anisotropy only is considered with the kinematic hardening rule in stress ration space. Tests on sand showed that anisotropy affects deformation and the internal friction angle.
