Annotated inventory of the acridids of the west of Niger (Niamey and Tamou regions)

Annotated inventory of the acridids of the west of Niger (Niamey and Tamou regions)

Journal of African Zoology 106(4): 327-336

In a survey carried out in 1989-91 in south-western Niger, about 87 species of Acrididae were collected from the Niamey area and 54 from the Tamou area. It is suggested that the diversity around the former site is partly due to a variety of habitats created by the Niger river. Some notes on the frequency of occurrence of some of the species are included.
