Annual N2O emission peaks after soil frost

Annual N2O emission peaks after soil frost

Mitteilungen der Deutschen Bodenkundlichen Gesellschaft ( 72,I): 495-498

Data are presented on temperature, precipitation, nitrate, CO2 and N2O levels in a sandy loam and a clay loam arable soil, monitored from Nov. 1992 to Apr. 1993. In spite of different soil types sampled, no significant variation in total N2O emissions was recorded for the first dew period (7-27 Jan.). For the two frost periods (5 Feb.- 1 Mar.), N2O emissions from the clay loam exceeded those from the sandy loam by 1.7 times.
