Annual dynamics of aggregate stability on recultivated soils on loess in relation to structural amelioration, management and N-fertilizing

A field study of a recultivated mine spoil soil on loess in Germany showed a decrease in aggregate stability with increasing moisture. A marked annual dynamic with summer maxima and winter minima of aggregate stability was observed. Whilst melioration and N-fertilizers had little effect to water stability of aggregates, soil water and management had a marked effect.
