This paper, delivered to the Ontario BKA Annual Meeting and Convention (2-3 December, 1992), gave results of 4 formic acid treatments on field colonies infested with tracheal mites (Acarapis woodi). Three 30-ml doses of 65% formic acid applied at 1-wk intervals killed more than 95% of mites present; 2 months later, mite prevalence was about 95% less than in untreated colonies. Applications to absorbent material on the top-bars or directly to the bottom board were both effective.
