Associations between waterhyacinth weevils (Neochetina eichhorniae and N. bruchi) and phenological stages of Eichhornia crassipes in southern Florida

Associations between waterhyacinth weevils (Neochetina eichhorniae and N. bruchi) and phenological stages of Eichhornia crassipes in southern Florida

Populations of Neochetina eichhorniae and N. bruchi were collected at 22 sites in southern Florida during mid-summer 1985, and compared in the laboratory. Species composition, reproductive females (as a percentage of total females) and flight muscle development in populations of N. eichhorniae varied greatly among sites. Populations of N. bruchi were heterogenous among sites for these parameters and for sex ratio.
