This article examines the changes that have been announced to the structure of the Sports Council in the UK. It contends that while there is a great deal to be pleased about in the reorganization, including more support for professional support and a commitment to bringing major sporting events to the UK, set against this is the abandonment of work in a number of other key areas, including 'sport for all' policies and grant aid for small local clubs and authorities.
