For Charolais cows in 86 herds, the CR was 92.4%, the percentage of abortions 0.8, and the incidence of late and difficult calvings and postpartum complications 5.6, 11.9 and 6.8% resp. Calf mortality was 4.5% within 24 h of calving, 5. 6% from 1 day to 3 wk post partum and 1.1% from 3 wk of age to weaning, and the incidence of cows failing to conceive before the winter, cows with poor body condition and cows with recurring diseases was 4.3, 2.4 and 1.8% resp.
