Barn drying with a solar collector - day and night?
The RH in a barn equipped with a solar collector used for drying hay reached 90% at night, hindering the drying process. The use of a heat accumulator which stores surplus heat from the solar collector is proposed in order to allow drying throughout the night. The operation of the heat accumulator is described. In tests, the heat accumulator successfully stored heat from a solar collector and increased the drying capacity of the hay drying installation.
