Phase I of the Trials of Hypertension Prevention study was designed to test the effectiveness and safety of 3 lifestyle (weight loss, sodium restriction and stress management) and 4 nutrition supplement (calcium, magnesium, potassium and fish oil) interventions in reducing diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in 2182 subjects (30-54 years old) with DBP 80-89 mm Hg.
