Basic factors affecting efficiency in animal breeding

, : Basic factors affecting efficiency in animal breeding. World Review of Animal Production 27(1): 93-96

On the basis of an analysis of data recorded in the British beef cattle recording scheme, the following conclusions were reached: (1) more cows with high values for most probable producing ability (MPPA) were found in top herds; (2) more calves from herds with a high proportion of cows with high values for MPPA were performance tested at central stations; (3) breeding values and their accuracies were higher for top herds.
