Rice varieties and lines, resistant and susceptible to the white-backed planthopper were treated with GA3 and pp-333 (anti-GA) at various growth stages and then infested with nymphs of S. furcifera 7-20 days after treatment. When 5-day-old seedlings derived from seeds soaked in GA3 or pp-333 were infested with nymphs, the survival rate of the delphacids was increased slightly.
